"I hate uncle Jamie"

-Love Actually

Watched this brilliantly british Christmas film tonight and cried my eyes out. I don't think I could stomach The Family Stone tonight as well. Perhaps I'll save that one for tomorrow!

Top Of The World!

My brother sent me this AWESOME video, today. If you are a true-blue movie lover, like I am; I know you will appreciate this collection of famous movie quotes. I think it pretty much covers all of my favorites. I titled this post after my favorite quote and all time favorite movie "White Heat". (Made it Ma, top of the world!) I also want to dedicate all Top Gun and Caddyshack quotes to my husband:)

Who is your greatest fashion influence?

Last night as I attacked all my e-mails I popped in "Love Story" which I picked up at Target on Saturday for $5!! Woop woop! Love a good deal!
Anyway... Yes, I cried my eyes out and yes, I feel in love with Ali MacGraw's character!

I looked up Ali MacGraw to see if she always had great fashion sense or if it was just in 'Love Story.' Come to find out she worked with Harper's Bazaar before she began acting! After spending an hour reading up on Ali I decided to call her one of my greatest fashion influences along with, of course, my all time favorite celebrity-- Jennifer Aniston! Yes, I still have my green "Team Aniston" shirt.

I very occasionally venture outside the colors white, black, camel brown, or grey clothing. Luke get on to me all the time but I really don't enjoy wearing any other colors. I'm a simple girl when it comes to clothing. I'd take a well structured shirt over a patterned top any day of the week! I've always thought fashion is 50 percent what you wear and 50 percent how you wear it. You can make a potato sack look good if you combine it with confidence and a smile!

There's a good chance that someone inspired your personal style whether it's your grandmother or Lady Gaga, who's your favorite?

Here's a few pictures of my style icons, Ali MacGraw and Jennifer Aniston!...

Did You Start The Rumpus?

I know, I know...one more blogger writing about this movie! I'm just really excited about it too:) I remember so clearly the first time I was introduced to this book. It was via a cool 80's show called Reading Rainbow. Anyone remember that? Anyway, the book captured my imagination instantly. I can't wait to see it. Hopefully, I can take Liam, but I'm debating it. He's only 4 and I'm never quite sure what will scare him and what won't. I've read the book to him a couple of times only because he said it was scary. Maybe I was a little too animated in my story telling...oops. If any of you have already seen it, I would like to get some feedback.
Two of my favorite articles about Where the Wild Things Are, can be found via Mocking Bird
and a blog I just found today called "We Love You So". I am very smitten with both of these sites. I found this adorable video there. These kids are having so much fun and I love their modern furniture too;)

Valentino: The Last Emperor

Valentino: The Last Emperor
"What do women want? They want to be beautiful!" is the motto that Valentino has based his life on.
This is how provokingly simple reality is construed in the movie 'Valentino The Last Emperor'.

This weekend I went to see the movie Valentino: The Last Emperor for the second time. It has finally arrived in Vancouver. The first time I saw it I drove to Seattle because it wasn't out here yet. It is one of the few movies I have been to in my lifetime that everyone in the theatre clapped at the end. I was moved to tears as the great maestro Valentino took a bolt of his signature red fabric and started draping it over a live model, creating and sculpting the design for a new dress. He was truly the Master of Couture, a dying breed in the times we are living in. Valentino: The last Emperor is a documentary that was filmed over a two year period chronicling Valentino's life work. It is a must see, not only for the view into the life of a great Master of Couture but also for the great love story it is.

Kitchen and conservatory, Practical Magic.

Sometimes the best part of a movie is the sets or the costuming. Over the years as we have searched for our perfect house I have had at least two requests, a large kitchen and a conservatory.

The house sets in the movie Practical Magic are wonderful examples of just that. Sadly, there was no real house used in the movie. It was all well conceived sets and a temporary facade.

The huge kitchen set from the movie. They never make kitchens big enough in real life.
